Te Kawerau a Maki present a collection of images of t?puna (forebears) and taonga (treasures) to remember and celebrate their heritage as they work toward a better future. Te Kawerau a Maki are mana whenua and custodians of the Wait?kere region, including the kauri, which are rangatira (chiefs) of the forest but are currently under threat from dieback disease. Visitors can learn about Te Kawerau a Maki's long history and leadership in the region through the stories of their t?puna and taonga, which help establish a path for future generations to follow.
