From 10am - 3pm, join special guests in a workshop developed to engage with the history and making possibilities of postcards. Use collage, stencils and stamps to decorate a special postcard to add to the Envoys Onwards exhibition in the Learning Centre Gallery. Following this, the official launch of Envoys Onwards will begin at 3pm.
For this exhibition Te Uru and representatives of the Association of Women Artists will be re-showing postcards from the exhibition Envoys, held in 1996 at Lopdell House Gallery (now Te Uru), and inviting a new generation of women artists to create postcards to show alongside the original set.
The aims of the original project remain unchanged: to strengthen the voice of women's common concerns, to acknowledge the universality of their gender, and to generate images from the present that will touch future generations. By acknowledging the common concerns of women, this project honours past endeavours and supports future generations.
