An investigation into the thingness, or object-status of the vinyl record. Each vinyl record starts out as a commodity but has the potential to accrue individuality through the exchange between owner and object. Over time, the value of the record shifts from an economic, to a social and cultural one. Each record is a specific thing, but it is also an idea; something that is experienced, shared and remembered. As each cover becomes a fetishized object, it also becomes part of a natural cycle of decay.
The recording plays all of the records with the music taken out, leaving just the moment between tracks to emphasise the clicks, pops and crackle that are unique to each record, accumulated through their use.
