Ecowest 2019: Lungsong

LungSong is a dance experience that invites you up to the Lopdell House rooftop for a special open-air performance by Choreographer Carol Brown and Sound Artist Russell Scoones.

Developed through a residency at NIWA’s Atmospheric Research Station in Lauder, LungSong is a testimony and measure of the temper(ature) of our times. Through the intimate act of breathing, air becomes a medium, shared and exchanged in this open encounter.

Emilia Rubio (Argentina/NZ), Maryam Bagheri Nesami (Iran/NZ), Neža Jamnikar (Slovenia) and Jasmin Canuel (NZ) shift between dimensions of space and time amplified by the sonified data of the sun’s rays, feeling their way through a future that is unknown.

Beneath the breathing sky and surrounded by the Waitakere bush, audiences will be captivated by this powerful and resonant performance. Supported by Te Uru and the University of Auckland.

This event is part of EcoWest Festival 2019, a month-long celebration of our stunning environment
