Live Performance: Justene Williams
For the opening week of Making do rhymes with poo, a major new performance and installation work by iconic Australian artist Justene Williams, the artist will perform live in the gallery.
Williams will perform 6-hour ‘working days’, during which she will complete menial tasks with her own body to transform the gallery space. The work addresses conscious and unconscious forms of labour undertaken by the body. Footage from this performance will be played as video for the remainder of the exhibition, augmented irregularly with remote broadcasts by Williams from her home in Brisbane.
Visitors are encouraged to drop in anytime during the first week of this exhibition to view the live performance. Performance schedule:
Saturday 25 May
4–6pm (coinciding with launch event for exhibition)
Monday 27 May – Saturday 1 June
10am – 1pm, 2pm – 4.30pm
