Max Harris: close reading of The New Zealand Project
Max Harris’ recently published book The New Zealand Project argues that our national politics is dominated by pragmatism to the detriment of core values. Harris instead calls for a strategic intervention to centralise values across New Zealand politics, activism and discourse. With his emphasis on creating new ways of thriving together, Harris’ aspirational approach comes at a time of a renewed focus on how we might visualise Aotearoa New Zealand’s identity. This event, led by Max Harris, is a chance to engage in a close reading with the author. Specifically, we’ll be looking at Chapter 5, the art of what might not seem possible at the moment: on decolonisation and constitutions. A copy of The New Zealand Project will be available to read in the gallery in advance of the event.
To encourage an active conversation amongst participants, numbers are limited for this close reading and booking is essential. Please email us or call 09 817 8087 to confirm a spot.
