White Night: Basant Madhur and the Sargam School of Music

Te Uru will be open late for this special Auckland Arts Festival event, which sees Auckland City enlivened with art activities and free bus tours around the city.

At Te Uru, experience the magic of Indian Classical and World music with Basant Madhur and his friends from the Sargam School of Music, responding to our exhibition Picturing Asia: Double Take, featuring the photography of Brian Brake and Steve McCurry, which is co-presented by Te Uru and the Auckland Arts Festival.

White Night is a city-wide night of the arts which originated in Europe and has spread to cities around the globe, including Cairo, Berlin, Barcelona, Melbourne, to name but a few. The name ‘White Night’ derives from the Parisian event nuit blanche  and was held in New Zealand for the first time in 2011 as part of the Auckland Arts Festival.

Picturing Asia: Double Take is supported by the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. Te Papa gratefully acknowledges the gift of the Brian Brake Collection by Wai-man Lau.
